Overview

Silverdale is a small former colliery town just over two miles west of Newcastle-under-Lyme and less than three miles from Keele University. It has good amenities, a strong sense of community and is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

There is a mix of older style terraces and bungalows alongside bigger properties. The popular Heritage Park is a recent development of traditional-style houses, ideal for families, professionals and people looking to retire in an attractive and peaceful setting. Schools and Colleges

There are three Ofsted-rated 'Good' primary schools in the area; Silverdale Primary and St Luke's Church of England are in the village, St John's Church of England school is in nearby Keele. Knutton St Mary's Church of England Academy is less than a mile away. Newcastle Academy, Madeley High School and St John Fisher Catholic College are nearby respected secondary schools, with Newcastle-under-Lyme College offering Further Education provision.

Transport Links

Silverdale is situated conveniently between junctions 15 and 16 of the M6 which takes you to Birmingham in the south and provides fast links to the major cities of the North West. There is a good bus service into Newcastle and to the surrounding area and Newcastle-under-Lyme bus station has good local connections.

Stoke-on-Trent railway station is four miles away, providing services to London and Nottingham in around 90 minutes, and Birmingham and Manchester in under an hour; the Stafford service takes around 20 minutes.

Amenities

Silverdale has plenty of shops including a small supermarket, cafes, restaurants and pubs, as well as a library, garden centre and gym.

The village is surrounded by rolling hills with nearby award-winning Silverdale Country Park - an 83-hectare open space created on former colliery land, and Apedale Community Country Park; both attract walkers, cyclists, twitchers and anglers.

For golf lovers, Keele Driving Range, Trentham Golf Club and Newcastle-under-Lyme Golf Club are nearby. Silverdale Athletic Football Club is a lively part of the community, providing opportunities for youngsters and adults alike. Newcastle Town Football Club plays at the impressive Aspire Stadium and has strong links in the local community.

Silverdale and Cornerstone community centres provide hubs for the community with space for clubs and gatherings. Silverdale is home to several churches including St Luke's, Silverdale Elim Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Silverdale Village Surgery offers GP provision and the respected Royal Stoke University Hospital is around three miles away.
